Abstract Milk from different species has been exploited for the isolation of various functional ingredients decades. Irrespective source, milk is considered as a complete food, it provides essential nutrients required by human body. Proteins and their fractions are valuable sources bioactive peptides that might exert health beneficial role in body such immune-modulation, antioxidant activity, ACE-inhibitory anti-neoplastic, anti-microbial, etc. In milk, may either be present natural form or released parental proteins due to enzymatic action. The increasing interest among researchers lately augmented exploration minor dairy sheep, goat, camel, mithun, mare, donkey. Alternative cow, have also proven healthier infancy older age owing higher digestibility other nutritive components. Therefore, realizing significance incentivized towards derivatization peptides, review highlights significant research achievements on products species. Graphical abstract
